Volcano Meradalir / Fagradalsfjall

The bad luck that faithfully supported
me in 2021 was reversed this time.
Just last night on August 20th, when
the volcano was still reasonably active, the scenery was
additionally decorated with northern lights

Already during the approach to Keflavik Airport, the red hot
spot could be identified in the wide volcanic landscape of the
Fargradalsfjall area..

You never walk alone! On this evening, a large number of
enthusiasts were drawn under the spell of the volcano at
the exposed vantage point.

A green shimmer in the entire sky
region mixed together with the volcano lighting an
almost unreal color cocktail.
Simply fascinating would have said
the Vulki Spok!

At midnight the activity was still brisk

Outgoing lava flows to the south

Forms of ejecta

By daybreak, the activity is already waning. The next
night there was hardly any activity on the webcams.

Not gone with the wind yet. An immense storm made
filming and photography almost impossible.
I literally had to push the tripod into the ground with
my not insignificant body weight in order to be able to
compensate for the gusts of wind.
