Passo Giovo (1900 m osl), Italy

Escaping from the haze in the south Bavarian plains up to the heights of the Tyrolean Alps. On the Passo giovo the seeing was phantastic in this dark area. In the evenig of the 18th of October the comet could be seen surprisingly easy with naked eyes.

Nice to see the changing of the tail in a period of only 24 hours.

Early morning photo. Get up, stand up at a really frosty place (-4°C) ! This should mention the not very easy condition above all for the astronomical instruments to take astro photos.

Germerswang  Oberbayern

Despite the poor weather conditions in southern Germany some regions were blessed with clear skies in the morning hours. So head out and take the first opportunity.

Catastrophic! The image disturbance from satellite tracks in less than 17 minutes within 1° of the image area makes astrophotography almost impossible!

*mag  = > light magnitude: Up to mag +3 or +4 stars are visible nearby cities with the naked eye, in very dark areas the seeing limit can reach up to mag +6-7.

The more higher numerical value is given, the more weaker are the objects. E.g. - 4,7 mag, Venus glittering; - 1,0 Sirius, brightest star; + 3,5 M31 Andromeda, pale shiny oval)

All comet observations from 2001 up to now ..
