Signs! In the astronomical sence of the longest day of the year, this traditional solstice celebration took place in the mountains of Ehrwald / Biberwier / Lermoos known as the Zugspitz Arena in the Tyrolean Alps, Austria.

 

The solstice celebration exist since the 14th century and took place this year at the 24th of June.
More than 10.000 fires light up the may 50 to 200-meter figures from an altitude from 1200m up to the Zugspitze with 2962 m osl.

Pointing out the figures in the steep mountain walls in the region of the Sonnenspitze (2417 m osl.), you should know that this places can only be reached by hard and challenging climbing. What an acrobatic performance for an unique sight for numerous of visitors.
